Today, the #7 Gonzaga Bulldogs will face off with the #2 Ohio State Buckeyes at 2:45 P.M. at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Bulldogs come in with a record of 26-6 while the Buckeyes stand at 28-7. Ohio State is coming off a 78-59 blowout of Loyola. The game went as expected. The 15 seed just couldn't match the Buckeyes in the opening round of the tournament. Many expect Ohio State to make a Final Four appearance, so they should be able to handle Gonzaga as well.
However, Gonzaga, too, had a very impressive showing against West Virginia. The two teams were only separated by three spots in the rankings, but Gonzaga was able to defeat West Virginia by a wide margin of 24 with the final score being 77-54. This game very well could be closer than most people expect. I wouldn't be surprised by a Bulldog victory.

The way (Ohio State senior guard William) Buford looks at it, any team that makes the NCAA tournament 14 straight years is a national power, not a curiosity.
It's why Buford expects the second-seeded Buckeyes (28-7) to be ready when they face the seventh-seeded Bulldogs (26-6) in the third round on Saturday. Ohio State received a wake-up call in a lethargic win over Loyola (Md.) on Thursday. If the Buckeyes play as listlessly against Gonzaga, Buford knows his college career will be over.
Whoever wins this game has a date with the winner of the matchup between Cincinnati and Florida State in the Sweet Sixteen.
