Syracuse nearly made history (the bad kind that is) by almost losing to UNC Asheville in the first round of tournament play, but escaped thanks to some dubious officiating. Expect the Orange to be far more focused on this game knowing how close they came to losing to a 16 seed in the opening round of play. They won't be looking past any opponent now.
Kansas State is coming in off the heels of a 6-point win of Southern Miss and they'll hope to finish what UNC Asheville started. You might think Syracuse is refocused, but another way to look at it would be to see 'Cuse against the ropes. Could Kansas State deliver the knockout blow?
Here's more on this game from CBS Sports:
Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim on Kansas State's Frank Martin: "I think he's done an unbelievable coaching job. I've known him for a long time. I wouldn't want to have him mad at me. He's a good guy and fun to be around. He's done a tremendous job at Kansas State."
The winner of this game will go on to face the winner of the game between Vanderbilt and Wisconsin in Sweet Sixteen in the Eastern Bracket, getting one step closer to a coveted spot in the Final Four.
