ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Chicago Blackhawks are locking horns with the Minnesota Wild in the penultimate game of the regular-season. It's the second meeting between the teams within the last week.
When they faced off Sunday night at the United Center, it was a fight-filled affair that was ultimately won by the Wild 5-4 in a shootout.
On Thursday, the Hawks lead 1-0 after one period on the strength of a Jamal Mayers goal. The veteran took a pass from Michael Frolik and shot it past Wild goaltender Josh Harding.
If the Hawks lose Thursday, they would lose any chance of moving up in the Western Conference postseason race as the would be locked into sixth place. A victory would keep their hopes of sliding into the fifth or fourt spot, with the latter bringing them home-ice advantage.
Corey Crawford is in goal for the Hawk and is seeking his 30th victory of the season.
Out of the Hawks' lineup due to injuries are Jonathan Toews, Andrew Brunette, Steve Montador, Dave Bolland and Sami Lepisto. Rookie defenseman Dylan Olsen is a healthy scratch and is out of the lineup with the return of Duncan Keith from a five-game suspension.
