ATLANTA -- Baylor didn't have to wear its day-glow uniforms to look ugly.
The third-seeded Bears, in their alternate black uniforms, quickly looked overmatched and turned in a horrid halftime against top-seeded Kentucky as the Wildcats took a 42-22 Elite Eight lead heading into the Georgia Dome locker rooms.
After falling behind 10-5, Kentucky shifted into high speed and used a 16-0 run to build a 21-0 lead as the Bears failed to score in a span that lasted longer than five minutes.
Kentucky, whose blue-clad fans filled the arena, shot 55.2 percent and were fueled by tournament-hot Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. The freshman forward scored 17 first-half points on 6 of 7 shooting.
The performance follows up his outstanding play in the Sweet 16 against Indiana, when he scored 24 points.
Anthony Davis, a Chicago native, added 14 points for the Wildcats.
Baylor turned the ball over nine times and shot only 32 percent. Center Perry Jones III hit only 1 of 5 shots, the same as forward Quincy Miller.
Quincy Acy led the Bears with 10 points.
The winner will play No. 4 seed Louisville -- a bitter rival to Kentucky -- in New Orleans for a chance to advance to the title game.
