UNC is coming in off a 19-point victory over Vermont, a game they handled well, as they should have given their position as the top ranked team. No 16 seed has ever upset a 1 in the opening round of tournament play. North Carolina is used to being ranked toward the top of the tournament, so they know the deal moving forward.
Creighton however is coming into the game after a nail biter with Alabama. The Jays escaped with a one-point victory over the Crimson Tide, the final score being 58-57. The eighth ranked team has earned the right to move on and face UNC.
Here's more on this game from the Charlotte Observer:
John Henson, 6-11, Jr., F, North Carolina. Henson has missed UNC's past three games with a left wrist injury, but Tar Heels coach Roy Williams on Friday put Henson's chances of a return Sunday at better than 50-50, barring an unexpected setback. Sunday seems like a natural point of return for Henson, whose presence would add to UNC's already-significant physical advantage. Even if James Michael McAdoo starts, don't be surprised to see Henson come off the bench.
The winner of this game will go on to face the winner of the matchup between South Florida and Ohio to represent the Midwest in the Sweet Sixteen.
