The number one ranked Kentucky Wildcats and Louisiana State University Tigers face off tonight in the first quarterfinal round game of the SEC Tournament at the Georgia  Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. The winner will advance to the semifinals of the SEC tournament on Saturday.

You can watch all the action between the Wildcats and Tigers live online here. Also, here is some video of a previous meeting between the two teams:

And here's more on this game:

The SEC has been Kentucky's conference for an awful long time, but the Wildcats haven't looked this good in a while. John Calipari has another team of young, blue chip talent playing extremely well together and getting hot at the right time. They're a shoo-in for the first overall seed in the NCAA tournament, but would still like to win a game or two in the SEC tournament first.

The NCAA tournament starts on Tuesday of next week with preliminary games in Dayton, Ohio. The real tournament starts on Thursday at lunch time. The top seeds in the NCAA tournament are likely to be Syracuse, Kentucky, North Carolina and Kansas.

The winner will advance to the semi-finals on Friday.

Here's more on the battle between the Tigers and the Wildcats from NOLA.com:

Other than the currents that flowed to power the New Orleans Arena on Thursday, there was a distinct lack of electricity during LSU's first-round game against Arkansas in the SEC Tournament.

There isn't much juice to a "win one for the NIT" theme.

But at least LSU kept alive its aspirations of playing after the conference tournament and climbing into the NIT, courtesy of a 70-54 victory over the Razorbacks. The Tigers' record (18-13) and season have been nothing to shout about, but surviving to play another game today, and perhaps at least one more in the NIT, is better than the alternative.
