And here's more on this game:
Kansas is probably a top seed in the NCAA tournament, but Baylor could do itself some big favors by engineering a big win against a top-three team just days before the selection committee makes its picks. But Big 12 purists will be pulling for Kansas and one more Border War with Missouri in the Big 12 championship before the Tigers bolt for the South East Conference beginning next season.
The NCAA tournament starts on Tuesday of next week with preliminary games in Dayton, Ohio. The real tournament starts on Thursday at lunch time. The top seeds in the NCAA tournament are likely to be Syracuse, Kentucky, North Carolina and Kansas.
The winner will advance to the semi-finals on Saturday.
Here's more about the Kansas and Baylor matchup from the Gant Daily:
Kansas kept its bid of winning a third straight Big 12 tournament title alive Thursday as Elijah Johnson scored 26 points and Thomas Robinson added 19 points to guide the Jayhawks past the Texas A&M Aggies, 83-66 Thursday at Sprint Center.
The first-seeded Jayhawks found a stiff challenge from the Aggies in the opening minutes before going on to post the comfortable win.
Tyshawn Taylor (16 points) and Jeff Whitney (11 points) also scored in double figures for the Jayhawks, who have extended their winning streak to 8 games.
Khris Middleton tallied 24 points to set the pace for Texas A&M, who will likely miss the NCAA tournament after appearing for six consecutive seasons.
Meanwhile, Baylor also booked a spot in the semifinal after eliminating Kentucky State Wildcats, 82-74 in Thursday's quarterfinal.
